Week of October 20

Reading: we are review main idea, sequence, cause and effect, and figurative language.
Writing: we are citing evidence using sentence stems.
Social Studies: we are looking at different contributions made to the United States.

THERE WILL BE NO SPELLING, VOCABULARY THIS WEEK.  THERE WILL BE HOWEVER AN ASSESSMENT ON THE THREE SKILLS LEARNED THIS WEEK ON THURSDAY.

**Reminders**
  1. Early release is on Thursday, October 23rd
  2. No school on Friday, October 24th

Here's what we are learning this week:
Reading: Main Idea- recounting(telling in order) details, identifying main idea

Writing: text evidence response; informative writing

Language: compound words(two words join together to make one new word)

Social Studies: Types of communities


We have CMAs this week.  Common Monthly Assessment happens every month.  they assess reading, math, and writing.  Here is the schedule for September CMA:Monday- ReadingTuesday- MathWednesday- Writing


Because of the CMAs, there will not be any spelling or vocabulary this week but there will be a reading test to assess the main idea skill on Friday.Homework all this week will be to read 30 minutes and complete at least ONE activity on reading plus. the SITE CODE IS hollywoodacad.  student's username will be the first name and password would be their last name.

1. Open House is Tuesday, September 22
2. No School on Thursday, September 253. Young @ Art field trip funds are due Tuesday, September 304. Conference invites will be starting soon
